Helmond (90,600 inhabitants) is situated in the southeast of the Netherlands, in a region known as ‘Brainport’ (population 756,600). Brainport is a European innovation stronghold. It is part of Europe’s technological backbone and is recognised worldwide as a centre for innovation and high tech. The region is home to numerous global high-tech companies, many of which are active in automotive/mobility, including some highly innovative SMEs. Besides industry, the region is known for its focus on research and development at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), TNO, High Tech Campus Eindhoven and the Automotive Campus in Helmond. City of Helmond is a frontrunner in Europe with respect testing and first deployment of connected, cooperative and automated driving.
The Automotive Campus is the national and international hotspot, meeting point and place of business in the field of automotive technology and smart mobility. The campus offers an attractive working and learning environment, state of the art technological (test) facilities and flexible accommodation concepts. The Automotive Campus is the center of the Brainport Living Lab Smart Mobility where projects in the field of smart and green mobility, innovative traffic management and cooperative and automated driving are combined in a living lab environment.
