Dear Participants,
You are on the verge of a three-day program focused on Smart Cities. Your laboratory for these days is the city that never sleeps: New York! It is a great pleasure for the Consulate General of the Netherlands to welcome you to New York for ‘Smart Cities NYC 2017’.
We are proud to facilitate a delegation representing Dutch expertise and know-how in the smart city sector and are confident that this event will create an opportunity for establishing valuable partnerships with counterparts in New York.
Apart from our government, industry, and academia participants, we are being joined by a host of startups. This will all take place in and around the Brooklyn Navy Yard. This is also where B. Amsterdam opens its American Flagship complex B. New York this coming May. It will be the first official international incubator of the City of New York.
The upcoming days will create lasting impressions. Let us make them into lasting connections: between technologies, between our civic and business communities, and between ourselves. The Smart City is taking shape quickly. Let us contribute what we already know and together seek new solutions. Together we make our cities and our hubs innovative, collectively we make our society smarter. Let’s get to work.
Many thanks to Mayor de Blasio and his team for hosting this incredible event. I would also like to thank my team at the Consulate for their efforts and for putting so much energy and dedication into the contribution of the Netherlands. I wish you all a very successful conference.
Sincerely,
Dolph Hogewoning
Consul General
